SW London: Our First Edition

South West London was where it all started. Here's why we chose it — and what we discovered along the way.

Every project has to start somewhere, and for us, it started in South West London. It's where we live, where we eat, and where we first had the idea for Locally Sauced.

SW London doesn't always get the culinary credit it deserves. People think of Soho, or Shoreditch, or Borough Market. But from Battersea to Richmond, from Putney to Clapham, there's an incredible food scene that most Londoners outside the area never discover.

We spent six months eating our way through the neighbourhood before we approached a single restaurant. We wanted to make sure we weren't just picking the obvious choices — we wanted the places that locals genuinely love.

The Ivy Kitchen in Putney was one of the first to say yes. Their beef shin ragu has been a regular favourite for years, and when the chef agreed to share the full recipe, we knew we were onto something.

Casa Andalucía in Clapham brought the sunshine. Their Gambas al Ajillo is the kind of dish that makes you forget you're in South London — for a moment, you're in a tiny bar in Seville.

The Richmond Larder gave us a masterclass in simplicity. Their roast chicken recipe is proof that you don't need twenty ingredients to make something extraordinary.

Putting the first edition together was a labour of love. Every card was tested, tasted, and tweaked. Every layout was agonised over. But when we held the finished binder in our hands for the first time, it felt right.

SW London was the beginning. But it's just the start.
